Our Story

Meet the owners of Dock Cottage, Robin Hood's Bay

Welcome to Dock Cottage – Where History Meets Hospitality!

We're Sue and Nick, the proud owners of Dock Cottage, a charming haven that holds the heartwarming tales of a family legacy and the allure of Robin Hood's Bay.

This isn't just a cottage; it's a living narrative of our journey, entwined with the rich history of this picturesque coastal village.

Dock Cottage has been a cherished part of Nick's family since the 1950s, witnessing the ebb and flow of generations. For Nick and his brother Simon, Robin Hood's Bay wasn't just a place; it was home for many memorable years.

Nick's story begins when he made the leap from Ripon to the Bay, residing next door to Dock Cottage and immersing himself in the vibrant local culture by fishing and working in the village pubs.

Nick's passion for hospitality bloomed during his time at Scarborough Technical College, where he honed his skills in Hotel Management, Hospitality, and Catering. His journey eventually led him to Harrogate, where fate intervened, and he crossed paths with Sue – a Lancashire lass with a similar background in the world of hospitality.

Sue and Nick's connection deepened as they worked together in various hotels in Harrogate. Their shared love for the art of hospitality and each other laid the foundation for a lifetime adventure. Although they later moved to Lancashire in the late 1980s, Robin Hood's Bay continued to occupy a special place in their hearts, beckoning them back to its shores time and again.
