Happy New Year from a very festive (and very snowy) Robin Hood’s Bay.

As I write this a few days after New Year's Eve, the Bay is wrapped in snow. Matt and our family and I had another brilliant New Year’s Eve spent right here in the village. There’s something incredibly special about celebrating New Year’s Eve in Robin Hood’s Bay with the atmosphere, the community spirit, and the sheer magic of welcoming the New Year by the sea.

We had a wonderful evening, enjoying a delicious meal at Brambles Bistro, followed by drinks in the Smugglers and the Dolphin. As midnight approached, everyone made their way down to the Dock, where locals and visitors gathered together to count down and welcome in the New Year. It’s always such a warm, friendly event where you end up bumping into people you know. Even if you don't know anyone, the person next to you is most likely to be your friend by the end of the night. New Year's Eve in Robin Hood's Bay is one of those memories that really stays with you, and it is so easy. All the restaurants and pubs are within walking distance of the cottage, there is no need to get a taxi home. It is just a short stumble into the cosiness and warmth of your cottage.

Our guests staying at Dock Cottage couldn’t have been better placed for New Year’s Eve in Robin Hood’s Bay. Being right in the centre of it all means no queues for the loo, no battling for space at the bar. You can simply pop back to the cottage to warm up, top up your glass, or enjoy the celebrations from the comfort of your own front-row seat, if the weather is bad.

We usually have regular New Year’s Eve guests, but they’ve made other plans for 2026. So, if you fancy welcoming the New Year from one of the best spots in the Bay, Dock Cottage is ready and waiting. It’s the perfect base for soaking up the atmosphere without missing a thing.

New Year’s Day in Robin Hood’s Bay is just as special. The much-loved Breakfast on the Beach is a fantastic community event, raising money for Fylingdales Pre-School and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Breakfast is served from 10am and it’s a lovely way to catch up with everyone you met the night before, with the added bonus of a refreshing beach walk to blow away the cobwebs.

This year, thanks to everyone’s generosity, an amazing £1,648.66 was raised. Another event is planned for 2027, and we’d love to see you there.
