The Robin Hood’s Bay Folk Weekend is a brilliant celebration of live music, held each year in June. In 2025, the festival will run from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th June. This free weekend showcases an eclectic mix of local talent, with performances ranging from foot-stomping folk tunes to heartfelt storytelling. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Bay’s cobbled streets and sweeping sea views, events take place in various locations throughout the village.


Come along and soak up the music, song and story that make this weekend so special.

Below is the planned order of events:


Friday 6th June – Robin Hood’s Bay


7pm – Wainwright’s Bar, The Bay Hotel – singaround and open mic, hosted by Garry Burnett, all welcome.

7pm – The Smuggler’s Inn (upstairs) – singaround and open mic, all welcome.


Saturday 7th June – Boggle Hole Youth Hostel & Robin Hood’s Bay


10.30am–1.30pm – Boggle Hole Youth Hostel


A Way with Words – a fun and creative writing workshop inspired by Robin Hood’s Bay’s history and environment. Everybody is welcome, from beginners to experienced wordsmiths. Hosted by Suzanne Elvidge & Steve Hoey at the beautiful Boggle Hole Youth Hostel, within walking distance, along the beach at low tide or on the Cleveland Way, from Bay.


Free to attend, but you might want to bring some money for coffee and sea-themed cake.


11am to 4pm – RNLI Café Dash (various venues around Bay)


Featuring Colin & Pip Whiddett, Ian Tyzack, Debra Simpson, Chris Denley, Derek Waudby, Anya Wiltschinsky, James Nicholson, Steve & Mary-Anne Hindley, Phil Friend, and Lynne & John Windle.


The Smugglers band will be performing and collecting for the RNLI from midday onwards in The Laurel pub.


PM – Wainwright’s Bar, The Bay Hotel – Informal singaround and open mic, all welcome.


2–5pm – Boggle Hole Youth Hostel – Acoustic open mic led by Garry Burnett & Rob Parker, all welcome.


7pm – Wainwright’s Bar, Bay Hotel – Informal open mic session – all welcome, hosted by Garry Burnett.


7pm – The Smuggler’s Inn (upstairs) – Singaround and open mic, all welcome.


7pm – Tea, Toast and Post – Guthrie & Friends – A themed session hosted by John Tunaley, Steve Foster & Ken McCall.


7pm – Fylingdales Village Hall – The Fylingdales Folk Choir, with special guests Glaisdale Clog, who will be performing traditional dances. Everyone is welcome to join in a feast of folk music and song.


Entry is free, with a voluntary donation in aid of RNLI.


Sunday 8th June – Robin Hood’s Bay


10.30 am – Folk service at St Stephen’s Church. Led by Steve Foster & Rob Parker.


11am to 4pm – RNLI Café Dash (various venues around Bay).

Featuring Edwina Hates, Eddie Marrion, Suzy Bradley, Ian Walker, Matthew Stringer, Dave Hume, Lucia White, Wolf Houseman, and George and Jane Smith.


12 pm Onwards - Dance display in the Dock with Thieving Magpie Morris.


The Jack Tars will also be performing at Berties of Bay on both 7th & 8th June, throughout the day.

We’re fully booked at Dock Cottage for this year’s Folk Weekend, so make sure you get in early and book ahead for next year.


Dock Cottage is perfectly located to enjoy all the weekend’s events. Our charming 17th-century cottage boasts stunning sea views from every room and is just steps from the beach. Private parking is included too – a rare find in the village.
