This easy circular walk of approximately 6 miles (9.6 km) takes around 3 to 4 hours.  The walk follows the well-signposted Cleveland Way National Trail, there are no stiles but there is just one steep climb up through the caravan park before Maw Wyke. The return part of the walk follows the flat Cinder Track, which is shared with cyclists.

At around the halfway around the walk you can stop for refreshments at, the Coast café-bar (at Northcliffe/Seaview holiday park) which is open from March to October.

Directions from Robin Hood's Bay

Starting at the top of the Robin Hood's Bay, turn right just past the Grosvenor Inn. You’ll see signs for the Cleveland Way and Cinder Track. Join the Cinder Track for a short distance, then fork right to follow the Cleveland Way.

The path is easy to navigate and well signposted; simply keep the sea on your right as you stroll along the coastal route. You'll pass through the Rocket Post Field, which features a replica of the historic rocket posts once used to rescue stranded sailors. These rockets, equipped with ropes, were launched to reach distressed ships, enabling passengers to be pulled to safety while holding onto an attached lifebuoy.

Carry on north along the cliff path. Look for the trail markers indicating the route to Maw Wyke. Just before reaching Maw Wyke, turn left and walk up through the caravan park. Then turn right onto the lane marked ‘Footpath, Hawsker.’ Continue past the main entrance to the holiday park, following the lane as it bears left and right.

Finally, turn left at the National Route 1 cycle sign and follow the old railway line, with caravans on your right, until you arrive back at Robin Hood’s Bay.

Tips:

- Footwear: Wear sturdy walking shoes, as some sections may be steep, uneven and muddy in the winter.

- Weather: Check the forecast and dress in layers, as coastal weather can change quickly.

-Safety: Stay on marked paths and be cautious near the cliff edges (especially with dogs).

- Dogs: Keep dogs on leads on any unfenced areas on the Cleveland way.  On the Cinder Track just be mindful to put dogs on a lead when cyclists pass.
